Studying Computer Science

Arianna (at the left) is taking part in Project EPIC (Engage, Prepare, Inspire, Challenge), a special PCC program that supports students traditionally underrepresented in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics – the STEM professions. Arianna calls herself an “active learner” and is gaining the skills to write computer code.

“I’m learning how to solve real-world problems and help people. The potential for what I can accomplish in this field is limitless.”

RICHARD FOARD

RICHARD FOARD

Veteran, HVAC technician

Richard, who served in the Air Force for three years, chose Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning-Refrigeration (HVAC-R) because he wanted a recession-proof, challenging career. He got an HVAC-R job last year and is continuing his studies at PCC, working toward an Associate degree.

“It’s a hands-on program and it’s self-paced. [The instructors] let us do our own thing but are always available and are extremely knowledgeable.”
